With the most coveted fashion week just around the corner (Lakme Fashion Week), the level of excitement is thick in the air! People are anxious to see what our designers have in store for them this season. Designer Sreejith Jeevan of label Rouka gives a little preview to his fans in Kochi at the Pepper House exhibition!
With letters being his muse, his designs evolve out of where he is at the time or what he feels. The concept of letters ‘write to me’ came to him through the letters of his late grandmother written to his mother, which he translated into the collection that will be presented at LFW.
The collection elaborates the theme of being written by hand, which is also a metaphor for lost sensibility, much like the crafts made by hand. The entire vocabulary of the post office—stamps, inland letters, postal envelopes, and the postman’s uniform find expression in his design; as do terms of endearment.
All this time Rouka has shied away from bridal, but this season they are going all out and coming up with quirky bridal wear, which would be showcased at LFW Winter/Festive 2015.
