An extended weekend came through amidst a very hectic work schedule; it was literally like a refreshing breath of silver linings. Also, this extended weekend had Holi nestled in it and I wanted to make the most of it. I stumbled upon a trip to Kasol with a bunch of unknown travelers. Something felt damn right about this whole ‘solo’ group trip. I wanted to go, and after lots of fights with my folks and hours of convincing, I finally made it happen.

About three years back during this time of the year I went to Rishikesh for a bungee jumping experience. After much anticipation, I did jump, and it had two outcomes—1. I overcame my fear of heights; the experience was life-altering, I felt free and content; 2. I invited lower back pain issues that stayed with me for good (I jumped the wrong way; my posture was incorrect and it resulted in bad muscle pull).

It’s been 15 years since I got my first period; amidst this long span of time, my body has changed in many ways and so has my lifestyle—I have put on weight (almost 20 kilos more), I have a sedentary lifestyle, exercising is once-in-a-blue-moon kind of affair, I don’t have a fixed eating schedule, I often skip meals, I drink too much coffee (almost 3 to 4 cups a day), I live in one of the most polluted cities of India (New Delhi) and the list is too darn long… However, in the middle of all these life-modifications, one thing that has been a constant for me ever since my first period is – unbearable cramp. My mother tried homeopathy on me for a while when I was younger, it didn’t really work wonders for me.
